Networked-based HTTP Adaptive Streaming Monitoring
HTTP Adaptive Streaming (HAS) is an exciting new form of mass video delivery with a number of promising advantages. It traverses firewalls and automatically adapts the video-quality based on the network conditions. However, because of its end-to-end nature, it is difficult for network operators or CDN providers to get a view on the vital QoE delivery parameters. We present a solution that does not require any modification to the deployed HAS system. Instead, it combines network-data and an Alcatel-Lucent patent-pending technique called “HAS session reconstruction” to estimate the QoE received by the end-user.
