Specifically within the 'Apps' context we organize various events in which we draw Flemish companies and organizations across the line to opt for open data in the policy choice between unlocking data or selling data under closed license. We are convinced, and many previous use cases have already proved that opening up data creates a much greater return on investment than selling it. Such data should not be far-fetched: you have a restaurant or snack bar, bring us your menu and prices in a simple format. The more people that can use the who, what, when and how of your company in their own applications, the more people will know about your business.
On the one hand we have the public "Apps For X 'events where we invite developers to get started with accessible data and thus come up in a short time with an application. The X can stand for a city, a government, a subject, ... 2013 has an Apps For Ghent, Antwerp, Bruges, Leuven but also an Apps For Culture and even Apps For Whiskey on the program.
Following this public events, we also organize under the name "For X Labs' internal hackathons within companies to demonstrate that the disclosure of internal data is an added value for your business.
