Birgit Morlion obtained a master degree in Photonics Engineering at the Free University of Brussels (VUB).
She started her career as a project engineer at the medical faculty of the ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles). There Birgit developed her skills as an expert in IT for telemedicine.
In 2003, Birgit was granted a PhD in Biomedical Science at the ULB.
Since September 2010 Birgit became responsible for the overall research coordination within iMinds. As Research & Innovation Programs director she manages the research and innovation programs of iMinds (e.g. ICON), the national and regional ICT-ecosystem and besides that she coordinates the Health Strategy of iMinds.
