Maarten Van Laere
His first venture was almost 20 years ago when he founded as a student his first company Vademecum, a web & business intelligence company. In 1998 he had the opportunity to co-found Techmar Europe, a company specialized in CRM, acquired in 2004 by Teleperformance (FR). Soon after, he founded Netmining, a pioneer in online profiling acquired in 2008 by Dentsu (US). In 2003, Maarten created ServersCheck. A technology company specialized in data center monitoring.
In a few years he grew the company to a multinational serving customers around the world. ServersCheck customers include blue chip companies such as Facebook, Cisco, Intel, Skype, HP and many more.
Right now Maarten travels often in the Asia Pacific region mainly for BTS Monitoring, his most recent venture. BTS Monitoring is a spin-off from ServersCheck focusing on monitoring cell towers of mobile operators.
Maarten uses his experience and entrepreneurial spirit to coach young start-ups. He is often invited for seminars, coaching sessions and was a board member of Bizidee, an annual entrepreneurship competition supported by the Flemish Government.
During this session Maarten will outline how “failure not being an option” and the key lessons learned from his mistakes allowed him to create his current portfolio of companies.
