Marcel Mampaey

MARCEL MAMPAEY is a network strategist in the Technology Advisory group at Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs in Antwerp, Belgium. He holds an M.Sc. in electrical engineering from Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. Joining the staff at the Alcatel Antwerp Research Center just a year after graduation, his first focus was in the area of call and connection control protocols. For the past eight years, he has focused on the topic of security for next-generation network and IP Multimedia Subsystem.

He served as Alcatel’s lead representative on IMS security in 3GPP SA3 and ETSI TISPAN WG7 from 2005-2006. Since then he has studied the protection of media distribution solutions with digital rights management and alternatives. He is a member of the Alcatel-Lucent Technical Academy, has published papers in various conferences and journals, has authored several patents and pending patents, and is a co-author of the book 3G Multimedia Services, Accounting, and User Profiles. Since October 2012 he is Project Manager for the FP7 C-DAX project.
