Marnix Botte is Vice President Bell
Labs Belgium, the Research organization of Alcatel-Lucent. Research areas
include fixed access (DSL, fiber), home networking, (3D) Video Research, ICT
Web2.0 & Telecom applications and cloud computing. Marnix will also
coordinate the Bell Labs actions towards the European Commission.
Marnix joined Alcatel-Lucent in 1990
and held different international management positions in the components and
telecom segment of Alcatel-Lucent, being very much involved in the research and
development of new technologies (eg. xDSL). Recent management positions include
the responsibility on the execution of customer projects across the EMEA
(Europe, Middle East, Africa) region as well
being in charge of business operations across EMEA looking at the sales and
presales part of the business.

Technology - University
Marnix received his master's degree in
Electronic Engineering (1982) and his Ph.D. in Applied Sciences (1986) from the
University of Ghent, Belgium. After his Ph.D. research, he headed a group of
researchers at University of Gent and IMEC (Inter University
looking in to the design / modeling and characterization of High-frequency /
High-speed systems. He was in charge of
different bilateral research projects with industrial partners as well as of
national and European research projects.
Marnix Botte is also author and
co-author of different technical articles published in international journals
and he was speaker on different international conferences.
