"Proberen een immersie te creëren en daardoor de gebruiker mee te laten voeren het narratieve verhaal, iets dat in ik in nature ken vanuit de cinema."
Tom Heene is an audiovisual creative developing multidisciplinary projects in film and in digital arts. He works with choreographers, actors, visual artists and scientists. He collaborates with code artists on interactive environments using digital tools. Since 2009 he work on an Art&D research project funded by iMinds. The installation ‘DarkMatr’ is a result of this research and actually an ongoing project.
DarkMatr investigates the way data from the web and our physical world can be merged and presented in a total user experience. The installation will use representations that are recognizable for humans and which humans can empathize with. We are interested in how to visualize complex patterns generated from the combination of physical and virtual data.
By means of the development of an immersive environment, in which a user is part of the system, the data visualization will be presented in an interactive sensory experience. We try to combine movements of a human body as an input device with data and tools originating from the internet. Through this, DarkMatr aims to create a cinematic experience, which we believe empowers immersivity.
